Quick Facts About AP US History
As you learn about many different events that many different people did in the past history relating to the United States, it is very easy to get lost within the sea of facts. Do not freight, because as you learn the facts, the understanding of the big picture of each time periods(units) will become both a crucial piece of the puzzle and a lifesaver for your knowledge base of this subject. From here on, I will be referring each subject unit as time periods since this term would be more appropriate for studying history.
Section breakdowns + their "buzz words"
Period 1: 1491 - 1607 (Pre-contact Native Americans, Exploration of the Atlantic)
Period 2: 1607 - 1754 (Colonies, Jamestown, Encomienda System)
Period 3: 1754 - 1800 (American Revolution, Early Republic)
Period 4: 1800 - 1848 (Cultural, Political, Economic Development, Temperance)
Period 5: 1844 - 1877 (Civil war, Sectionalism)
Period 6: 1865 - 1898 (Cultural + Political changes, immigration, Rockefeller, Standard Oil)
Period 7: 1890 - 1945 (World War I & II, Great Depression, Progressivism)
Period 8: 1945 - 1980 (Cold War, Vietnam War)

Here is a good tip for getting concepts down apart from the vocab lists:
When you watch the videos below, try to jot down the major concepts and proper nouns(with short descriptions if possible) without pausing the video. Then watch the video again and fill in even more vocabulary words using a different font if on computer or a different color if on paper
